Last drawing session of the year. We never got the 2 models at once, but we're promised that in the new year! i'm looking forward to that challenge!

the drawings felt pretty good on this night. i discovered a new trick too. vine charcoal over top of conte blends the conte nicely without darkening it too much. conte is waxy so it doesn't stick. the drawing on the brown paper was the toughest to do but the most rewarding... lots of the dreaded foreshortening lol!

i keep coming back to ballet dancers... i love painting or drawing them! :) I had Degas' dancers in mind while i worked on this and I hope I caught some his style in this painting, although it is a very different medium than he used. Cricket Players

Think I found a new favorite toy! more from those brush pens. this one was a good exercise in simplifying the subject matter. I did a really quick gesture sketch, then transferred those energetic lines to the w/c paper then inked and added color. Definitely different for me, but something I'd like to explore some more!
