Life Drawing Dec. 17, 2012

Last drawing session of the year. We never got the 2 models at once, but we're promised that in the new year! i'm looking forward to that challenge!

the drawings felt pretty good on this night. i discovered a new trick too. vine charcoal over top of conte blends the conte nicely without darkening it too much. conte is waxy so it doesn't stick. the drawing on the brown paper was the toughest to do but the most rewarding... lots of the dreaded foreshortening lol!

nothing more heartwarming than watching a young one play on the beach. i’ve been meaning to paint this for a long time, and finally got to it woo hooo!

i keep coming back to ballet dancers... i love painting or drawing them! :) I had Degas' dancers in mind while i worked on this and I hope I caught some his style in this painting, although it is a very different medium than he used. Big thanks to charligal-stock for the use of this wonderful reference!
