Sorry, a long time between posts... and paintings. I've been busy with school work, but had a break this weekend as it is the end of a term. Sure felt good to pick up a paintbrush again. Back at the schoolwork on Monday though.

Fancy Hat

This was another attempt at the grisaille method. I really enjoy painting this way, but it is so time consuming. It is getting tough to juggle painting time and homework time from the Web Development courses I am taking full time right now. Unfortunately, homework gets priority over painting... :o(

I'll keep finding ways to sneak in painting though! After all, blogging IS web development... hee hee! I need content! That's a good rationalization isn't it? ;o)

Kananaskis Autumn Morn

I do a lot of photography as well as painting. I drove about an hour outside of Calgary to Kananaskis country a few weeks ago on a photo expedition. I feel so fortunate to live in this area because the scenery is just spectacular. And when the leaves turn... even more magic!

Been trying to sneak in an extra painting or two this week. I start a full time course on web design and development on Thursday that will be keeping me very busy until next June. Still going to get some painting done on the weekends though... homework permitting. I'm sure all that technology will drive me crazy before long. :)

Strawberry Still Life

I tried a painting technique called the Grisaille method for this one. You paint in black and white then glaze the color over it. Think I'll be doing this more often... wow, you can get detail with it!

Poppies

I was bummed out tonight after going to what I thought was the first art class after the summer break, only to find out they don’t start until next week…. so I came home and painted anyway.. ;o)

Of course I'm always testing myself. Red and green for someone who is red-green colorblind is not usually a good idea, but I think i got away with it. As long as I don't MIX red and green ... because I can never tell when it switches from red to green and vice versa.

Rockin' Robin
